FAQ

What is Mesh WiFi?

Mesh WiFi or Whole Home WiFi systems consist of a main router that connects directly to your modem, and a series of satellite modules, or nodes, placed around your house for full WiFi coverage. They are all part of a single wireless network and share the same SSID and password, unlike traditional WiFi routers. A modular mesh whole home WiFi system is flexible and scalable, giving you a customizable method of expanding your WiFi without the need to add range extenders. It’s just like installing lighting fixtures to illuminate your home; you can place your nodes anywhere in your home. You choose which rooms need the coverage.

What is a modular WiFi system?

In a modular system, there’s one node connected to your modem that acts as a router. Each additional node finds the best channel and path to wirelessly connect to the previous one, creating a seamless and reliable WiFi connection throughout your entire home. With seamless roaming, you only have one network with one name and password—that means that as you move about your home, you’ll never have to manually switch from one network to the other.

What is WiFi 6E?

WiFi 6E is the latest version of WiFi technology that uses the 6 GHz frequency band to provide faster speeds and more reliable connections than WiFi 5. WiFi 6E also uses the 6 GHz frequency band to reduce interference from other devices and provide more bandwidth for high-speed applications such as streaming video and gaming.

What could be slowing down my home WiFi?

There are several reasons why your home WiFi might be slow. Here are some common issues that could be slowing down your WiFi network:

-Too many devices
-Wireless network range and signal penetration
-Too many users
-Old network cables
-You’re using powerline or WiFi extenders
-Your WiFi channel is heavily congested
-Your ISP’s DNS server is slow
-Your ISP may be throttling you

Solid metal objects or concrete walls also block WiFi radio waves pretty hard, making for an even weaker signal

How far does a normal home WiFi signal reach?

The range of a WiFi signal depends on several factors such as the type of router, the frequency of the signal, and the environment. A typical WiFi router has a range of about 100-150 feet indoors and up to 300 feet outdoors. However, walls and other obstacles can reduce the range of your WiFi signal. If you need to extend your WiFi signal beyond its normal range, you can use a WiFi extender or a mesh WiFi system.

Why not use WiFi extenders through my house?

WiFi extenders can reduce the speed of your WiFi network because they use the same frequency band to communicate with your router and your devices. This can cause interference and slow down your WiFi network. In addition, WiFi extenders can create separate networks that require you to switch between them manually as you move around your home. Instead of using WiFi extenders, you can use a mesh WiFi system that uses multiple access points to create a single network with seamless coverage throughout your home.
