What is the difference between Google Nest WIFI router and point?

The Google Nest Wifi router and point are both part of the same mesh network system. The router is the primary device that connects to your modem and creates a Wi-Fi network. The point is an additional device that extends the Wi-Fi coverage of your network. The main difference between the two is that the router has more processing power and can handle more devices than the point. The router also has two Ethernet ports, while the point has none.

Google Nest Doorbells

Google Nest doorbells are video doorbells that can be connected to your existing doorbell wires or work on both battery and hardwired connections. They offer sharp video and provide free features such as video storage and person and package detection without requiring a subscription, which is unique among top video doorbell brands. The Google Nest Doorbell (battery) will send an alert to your smartphone if the button is pressed or the doorbell detects motion, enabling you to view the camera’s live feed from the Google Home app. It can differentiate between people and animals and is even clever enough to notify you when packages have been left or taken.

Google Nest WiFi

Google Nest Wifi is a scalable and flexible Wi-Fi system that blankets your whole home in fast, reliable Wi-Fi and eliminates buffering in every room. The Nest Wifi Router and Nest Wifi Point each feature a simplistic design that’s built to blend into your home without needing to be hidden out of sight, where they won’t perform as well. The range-extending Nest Wifi Points come in your choice of three colors and double as Google Assistant smart speakers. The Nest Wifi points are designed to expand your existing Wi-Fi network and require a Nest Wifi router.

Do I need a thermostat currently in my home to use a new Smart Thermostat?

Yes, a functioning thermostat is required in order for OnTech to install a smart thermostat.

Can OnTech install multiple Smart Thermostats?

OnTech can install multiple smart thermostats if your existing zoned system is capable of handling multiple thermostats.

Are Nest thermostats compatible with 'zoned' HVAC systems?

If you have more than one thermostat in your home, you have a zoned system. In zoned systems, each thermostat controls heating and cooling independently in order to heat or cool different areas of the house. Thermostats in zoned systems can control the same heating and cooling system or each thermostat can control its own system. When multiple thermostats control one system, dampers in the ductwork open and close to heat or cool specific zones of the house.
Generally speaking, Nest thermostats are compatible with zoned systems panels. However, if your thermostat uses proprietary wires like Damp, OPN, or CLS to control dampers or zones, your system may not be compatible. Also, some zoned systems are configured with a “primary” thermostat and a “secondary” thermostat, where the “primary” thermostat controls some or all functions of the “secondary” thermostat. These types of systems may not be compatible with Nest thermostats.
